Built from the Burden:

Published on 13 July 2025 at 12:51

Turning the weight we carried into the ground we stand on.

Those very rocks and gravel that weigh us down may end up being the reinforcement needed for the foundation we build—once we are ready to assume the life we choose to live, and not just experience. The life we look forward to, not the one we’re forced to endure.

What we become will be as strong as the foundation we are willing to face.

It’s a great way to thank and say goodbye to those rocks-and-gravel moments, so we aren’t weighted down—and as we accomplish something new—our new.

This way, we accept the past and welcome the future. Appreciating the strength that came with the weight, and even more so, the relief of letting go. Although that part is more challenging, it is a rock in and of itself.

A great moment is realizing that those foundations aren't always meant for self-gain—but sometimes for another. And that should give us solace: that our journey and process have good bearing for someone, even if in the moment, it isn't us. That time will come too.

Prayer:

May we remember—

that no matter how dire our situation feels,

we are not alone.

And may this mess,

with time and age,

become our message.

(Ecclesiastes 3:11, Genesis 50:20, Romans 8:28, James 1:2–4)
