More Than a Moment: How Small Acts Carry Infinite Meaning

Small gestures, great impact—the unseen power of love in action.

Is it good or not good to not know anything about someone or something? It seems to be good—for you are not limited by your eyesight. Limitation divides one from what can be, reducing it to what your perception measures it to be. And in that, it inhibits what could become.

Because one day, you will see the back of them as they walk away and wish you had cherished the face you started to forget. You were focused on everything else but what was standing right in front of you. These interactions, though they may seem small, hold so much more weight. They serve as reminders of the dynamics and disposition of our engagements—not just with those we meet but also with the one staring back at us in the mirror.

Time is ticking away, not just for you but for them too. Have you ever stopped to consider how much time they have left? It’s not just about how you enjoy their presence, their companionship, or the impact they have had on you. It’s about recognizing that, in appreciation and love for another, we find something greater than ourselves. To serve extends beyond just God—it reaches into the life of another.

Service isn’t just about giving money. It’s about stepping into someone’s story, even if just for a moment. Playing a role in their journey. Adding to their process, just as others have unknowingly added to yours. After all, don’t you have characters in your story too?

This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be the main character in your life—that would only lead to sorrow and stuckness. But it does mean understanding when to step back, when to play the quiet role, when to lift another up without needing the spotlight. And in doing so, you learn. You see from a different angle. What you see from here, you don’t see from there—and vice versa.

So embrace the different roles. Be the main character in your own story, but also be the steady presence in someone else’s. It might seem small, even insignificant. But the impact is anything but. And to increase love, we must amplify it within ourselves and in others. In doing so, we come together, shining even brighter.

And know this—your role may be as simple as offering a smile or a hug. A smile is an act of validation. A hug, an act of presence. Sometimes, that’s all it takes. A small moment of kindness that breathes life into another. A reminder that they are seen. That they are not invisible. That they matter.

Because sometimes, that simple act is the very thing that stops an unthinkable one.

What a blessing it is to hold such a healing gift. Isn’t that so?
