Unplanned but Aligned: Trusting the Process of Becoming

A Gem in the Rough: Your biggest setback may be your greatest setup.

"When one plans, God laughs."

Testing discomfort in light of dramatic changes in plans, the first instinct is often to give in. But what if we don’t?

When we become so focused on measuring and observing everything around us, we leave no room for chance. In the quantum world, a particle occupies two spaces at the same time, and only when it is measured or observed does it take one of the two places. This is a great reflection of what we do in our personal lives—striving to know everything and keep our thumb on anything and everything, we unknowingly build a rigid structure that limits possibilities instead of expanding them.

"When one plans, God laughs." A change of plans can be very disheartening, as we seek structured conditions and predictable circumstances to ensure a desired outcome. But that can be a good thing too. If we have an intention in our being and a vision in our mind, then the universe will conspire in our favor. But it takes the virtues of trust, belief, and patience. Things take time and often go through unexpected developments—ones that may lead to something far more aligned with our true desires.

That very plan that didn’t go as planned might be our gem in the rough, for what we gain from it will outweigh your initial anticipation. The truer we are to ourselves and the better we know ourselves, the more circumstances will play out in our best interest. But if we are not sure what we are looking for, then even if we were to gain it, a rock and a gem would look the same to us.

There is more than meets the eye in many scenarios, but the essence of it all is to keep our eyes open, our hearts available, and our minds in check.
