To be—in spite of.
Hunt that in which is hiding within you,
so you may not be haunted by its stronghold.
To be faithful in spite of anger.
To be courageous in spite of fear.
To be a follower in spite of abandonment .
To be a believer in spite of pressure.
To be with the Divine in spite of being human.
To be loved in spite of the ego.
To be accepted in spite of the narrative.
To be welcomed in spite of avoidance.
To be with Him in spite of sin.
To be touched in spite of distance.
To be present in spite of distraction.
To be relevant in spite of comparison.
To be completed in spite of limitation.
To be praising in spite of challenges.
To be of gratitude in spite of lack.
To be of perspective in spite of impulsiveness.
To be contented in spite of desire.
To be with Him in spite of our priorities.
To be preaching in spite of opposition.
To be confident in spite of doubt.
To be true in spite of discomfort .
To be discerning in spite of authority.
Reflection questions:
* What am I still becoming in spite of?
* What stronghold have I mistaken for part of my personality?
* Which of these lines is hardest for me to embody—and why?
Prayer
May we bear the weight in spite of the heavy toll,
and have the endurance to sit in the struggle—
steadfast—welcoming a better tomorrow to come knocking on our doors.
May we hold on to that faith,
and maintain a steady state of mind despite the challenges
and tests we are facing or undergoing at this moment.
And may we remember our strength,
and the testimony of our pasts—
that we shall see this one through too.
(Ezekiel 36:26, Jeremiah 17:9–10, 2 Corinthians 10:4–5, Romans 12:2)
